Fine Art Connoisseur

History

Fine Art Conoisseur is focused primarily on American, European, and International representational artworks from the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, as well as contemporary artists working in the realist tradition. It has become known for its fresh articles by the world’s leading art experts, exquisite reproductions, and features on the care of art collections, as well as its Hidden Collections (TM) feature, which highlights private collections rarely seen by the public.

In 2010, Fine Art Connoisseur and The CTP Group designed a Russian Art Cruise, which offered guests, comprised of art collectors and art afficionados, magazine subscribers and enthusiastic travelers, the chance to explore artwork in St. Petersburg, Russia in the knowledgeable and capable hands of editor Peter Trippi, professional curator and former museum director. Crystal Cruise’s Symphony was the elegant vessel for the seven-night Baltic cruise, beginning in Copenhagen and ending in Stockholm, with three days in St. Petersburg.

The program was a tremendous success.  In 2011, we are following up the Russian Art Cruise with another art cruise – this time down the Danube .  So much so, that in 2011, we are embarking on another art cruise, this time, down the Danube on the luxurious MS AmaDante, a new, state-of-the-art 148-passenger river cruise ship.

“This experience was life changing. Being a young art student, I can’t imagine anyone more lucky and blessed than myself. I will never forget this trip and the art that I saw and experienced. It will have a great impact on my work. I am so grateful to everyone that put this trip together to allow me to experience these amazing things. I can’t imagine a better trip or more influential trip for a young academic art student. Infinite thanks to all that made this possible.”–Katie Whipple

“This has been an amazing educational cruise. It truly exceeded my expectations. Peter Trippi’s lectures were so clearly delineated making all of the information accessible, interesting, exciting and fun. The cities we have visited were gorgeous, made so much more special by the focus of this program. I think we all truly appreciated the special viewings that were arranged for us. Being able to see the Hermitage in a small group was a great gift and our guides in St. Petersburg were very helpful. Everyone involved in this cruise has been incredibly accommodating to all of our needs. The ballet was a wonderful addition. Overall, I would travel with this fun, intelligent, artistic group of people again. I look forward to it! Thank you.”–Bud Leslie

“I had very high expectations for this trip but you far exceeded them. It was so well organized, intensely packed with amazing experiences, superb lectures on art history and geography/history of the areas we are visiting by Peter Trippi. We used every minute wisely and the people aboard our specific tour cruise were all interested in feasting their eyes on visual sights so we were comfortable taking tons of photos in our insatiable desire to keep our treasures in our imagination forever. Thank you from the bottom of my art loving heart – it was the trip of a lifetime!”–Cinthia Joyce

“This was a marvelous combination of elegant creative comfort with intellectual riches. Peter Trippi is a treasure – his lectures were brilliant and gave an indispensable and geographic overview to the art and architecture we were privileged to see. An added benefit was the company of other artists and art lovers, intrepid in their stamina and enthusiasm and shared joy. Thank you!”–Barbara Paul Robinson
